Our
Inspiring Soul
Banarasi Das Ji, a gallant young man
of Bulandshahr, joined the struggle for freedom of our country and was jailed several times
for his participation in the non-violent movement of Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru.
During his long political career, he
worked as Minister, Speaker, Member of Parliament (both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) and
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was a brilliant organiser, interpreter, orator and all
those who came into contact with him were inspired by his ideals of simple life style,
command of languages and a practical approach to problems. Many a fight had been fought
during his lifetime and many a victory won. He did not know how to surrender and even when
he was face to face with death, he never gave in. It has been rightly said that:
"Man doth not
yield himself to the angels.
Not even unto death, utterly, save, by the weakness of his feeble will"
We are proud of the
great soul which has shaped our present and continues to inspire our future.
